Legacy is Australia’s longest standing organisation working to support and improve the lives of our veterans’ families. We are there for the partners and the children of those who gave their lives or their health for our country.

Legacy’s presence on the ground is much more than just social, financial and developmental support in their greatest time of need, Legacy is an encouraging message of hope from supporters everywhere that our veterans’ families have not been forgotten. That every wife, mother, husband, father or child has the right to survive and thrive. The right for a brighter future regardless of the situation they may be in.

Meet Alexis (former Junior Beneficiary, now Legatee)

Alexis was just 24 years old when she lost her Father, Eric. The loss was profound, but it was during this difficult time that Legacy stepped in and provided immeasurable support for Alexis and her Mother.

The emotional and social assistance we received from Legacy was truly invaluable. Our dedicated Legatee became a pillar of strength, advocating for our rights and ensuring we received the support we needed. They were always there, lending a listening ear or offering guidance during the initial stages of our grief.

Legacy quickly became more than an organisation to us – it become our second family. Through Legacy, we had the opportunity to connect with other families and individuals who had gone thorugh similar experiences. Sharing our stories and journeys, we found solace and understanding among peopel who truly comprehended the depth of our loss.

Through my personal experiences, I have witnessed firsthand the immense importance of Legacy’s mission. I know that my Father and other veterans whould find comfort in knowing that their families are supported in the same remarkable way that we have been by this incredible organisation 

In 2017, Alexis was ready to give back to an organisation that had given her so much by becoming a Legatee. Alexis now supports other families who are going through what she has experienced.

Legacy’s work is an testament to the enduring spirit of service and sacrifice.
